Festival Politicos [Ep. 4]: Sneaker Exchange CPT 2018 #SXCCPT

Sneaker Exchange CPT

Since the early times when only 80 people came to Sneaker Exchange, the event has grown exponentionally over the years. Back in 2013, Zaid Osman took the leap to launch SXCPT and hasn’t looked back since. In 2018, the event is a hub for sneaker and streetwear culture fans in Cape Town and Johannesburg. The musical stylings of Miss Patty Monroe, A-Reece, and Youngsta CPT (to name a few) lit up the venue. Shane Eagle’s set came as a surprise after Riky Rick pulled out suddenly. Nevertheless, the crowd enjoyed recited his prose line for line.

The primary purpose of Sneaker Exchange is for attendees to trade sneakers or purchase new pairs. Thereafter, engaging with other facets of streetwear fashion, such as accessories, apparel, and music are the mediums of engagement.

“It must be something I can relate to” – Youngsta CPT

Fashion is loaded with messaging from brand makers and brand wearers. Political statements and orchestrated nonchalance are two examples of this. Festival Politicos sought to engage festival goers on why they engage with certain brands over others.
