“Fashion week” captures audiences with elaborate garments, spectacle, and glamour. African Fashion International’s Cape Town fashion week is no stranger to this. However, the major difference between Africa’s and other continents’ runways are the complexions walking the runway.

On an African runway viewers can see themselves represented because most, if not all, races walk the runway. In addition to AFICTFW featuring black African models, a rarity in fashion, there were models of various ethnic backgrounds and nationalities too.
Raine Tauber, Global Senior Artist for MAC Cosmetics, and Aubrey Loots, head hairstylist for Wella Hair, dominated behind the scenes in their application of skill and creativity to the men and womxn who sauntered across the runway.
